I guess Glanzmann would have to speak to that. I can see how it could
remove some of the guarantees of maildir, but it's also possible that
even if your maildir is in an environment with unreliable locking, you
can put your hcache somewhere else. I would guess in fact that you'd
typically have much more flexibility about the location of your cache
than your inbox.
