Not true.  Gnus, while not as popular as mutt, also does the right thing.  A
lot of other MUAs honor it while not generating it, and qmail includes
functionality to generate it in outgoing messages with any MUA.

Actually, it does.  If you read the above URL, the logic for this becomes
quite clear.
