Sorry this breaks for me. I had the same problem with non-working imap caches, also using courier-imap.
I've updated to CVS and get the following behaviour: * First time I open a mailbox it's slow as expected. * Second time I get quick cached access. * Third time it fails with "Error opening mailbox".Deleting the cache allows me to open the mailbox again. This is on cygwin.
