You could change the forward key into a macro, maybe. For example:

macro index f '<enter-command> set record=^<enter><forward-message>'

You might also look into using an fcc-hook, like so:

fcc-hook . ^

I haven't tested that (you may need to escape it a few times, or 
something), but the idea is that will make the default FCC for all 
messages the current folder.
