I am running Debian Etch on an i386 with the Gnome desktop.

I installed the package, and I entered it as a startup program in the
"desktop -> preferences -> sessions" menu of the Gnome desktop. After
entering "mail-notification", the dialogue added "/ui/" and offered
five options:

   gmail.png
   logo.png
   mailbox-properties-dialogue.glade
   mail-summary-popup.glade
   properties-dialogue.glade

The first was the default, so I chose it. Then I logged out of X and
logged back in. But notification is not working.

Looking again at the "desktop -> preferences -> sessions" menu of the
Gnome desktop, mail-notification does not appear in the "current
session" tab, but in the "startup programs" tab I see
"/usr/share/mail-notification/ui/gmail.pgn".
