But note that if you were using maildir, it wouldn't be. ;-)

But the thing is, if you liked that model, you can still get
essentially the same behavior: just flag the messages (or set
mark_old). That was the main point of my original response in the
thread (though I forgot to make it ;-). The current change makes it
possible for Mutt to remind you that you've left mail behind, by
prompting to change to the folder that the mail is in. With the old
way (and now, using flagging or mark_old), you have to look manually.

Actually I do flag e-mails... though it's somewhat rare. I currently
use a 3-tier approach to marking the importance of mails I leave
around. In order:

 1. leave the messages marked new: I want to be positive I address
these soon (usually within an hour or so).
 2. Flag them: Should be addressed, but maybe at a later date
 3. leave them unflagged: probably just hanging around so I can refer
to it if I need to.

Most messages fall into category 1 or 3, and only occasionally do I
flag messages. Anything that's not important at all, I delete. I
don't like a lot of old messages cluttering up my mailboxes.

But, ideally, I would handle my mail as I described. That gives me
the same 3 tiers (4 actually, because I could still flag messages, on
top of what I described), but mutt would remind me about the first two
tiers, instead of only the top one.

Yes, exactly. :)
