in ~/.muttrc add a mailbox:
mailboxes 'pop://pop.a_server_with_a_very_long_dns_name'

and an account-hook:
account-hook pop://<log_name@a_server_with_a_very_long_dns_name> \
'set pop_user=<log_name> pop_pass=<password>'

then 'c'<tab> and select the appropriate mailbox from the list
