Hi,
you can obtain this very easy in the way you described it. Just add a
fallback mailbox in case no other save hook matches. That way you have
one generic macro. However I like the pine behaviour, which saved only
*read* eMail to a mailbox if a save hook exists and let it otherwise
in the INBOX. This isn't possible with mutt AFAIK. That is what I miss
most since switched from pine two years ago.

did you confuse folder-hook and save-hook?
