        That's why I suggested xemacs + gnuclient to Konstantin earlier in
this thread: it opens a new (client) window, in place, so (if your wm
focuses new windows automatically) you don't have to manually switch windows
at all (or you could also use gnuclient -nw).

The rumor that one can now boot directly into emacs from LILO or GRUB, and
thus avoid the need for an operating system entirely, proves to be unfounded.
