Fwd: Mailcap is not working

Subject: Mailcap is not working
Hi,
I wonder, if my system is stupid, or I myself. I made an entry in the
mailcap- file for jpeg and gif. On my former system it did function:
application/jpeg eog [Eye of Gnome] %s, or something like this...
Anyway, no jpeg or gif will be open. I get the following error message:
sh: line 1: display: command not found.
Is it a failure of the mailcap- file or of something else?
