% Let's add yet another useless header which noone ever looks at! \o/
% </sarcasm>

What, you don't look at all of the X-headers? Granted, I leave *some*
of them out, but only the ones added by braindead software. The ones
written by real people are interesting :-)

%
% Really folks, whats the need for these useless headers like
% X-Operating-System, X-Mood, X-Face (with 64kb UUEncoded image!),
% X-Geek-Code, X-whatever...

My goodness; a 64k image is rather much. The whole point of X-Face is
that it should be on the order of 200 bytes or so.

%
% Did you ever receive messages like 'Oooh, I saw your X-blargh header and
% I couldn't resist asking ...'? Do you think people will look through

Actually, I have, although it's been a while, and it sure as hell wasn't
from an Outhouse user :-)

% your headers when there's really no need to? I can't name anyone from

Yep. I do.

% my vast group of email-relations that actually does this. Do you think
% others actually care what your uptime is? Or your load average?

It's the new "mine is bigger" for the geek age. Now we can brag without
having to stand next at adjacent urinals, and women can join in without
having to purchase artificial equipment.

%
% If i'm interrested in what OS your run, what your uptime is, or your
% current load averages, or what you look like, i'll ask, ok? There's no
% need to add that to each and every message you send, especially to
% mailinglists.

In general I agree, and that 64K-face you noted is definitely a problem,
but a few X-headers are pretty innocent and mundane.

%
% It just adds to the size of each and every message...

True enough.

%
% The guy who sent me a message with an X-Face header followed by 64kb of
% uuencoded crap ended right in my 550 Reject list.

Can't say I blame you.

% </flame>
%
% *sigh* Sorry?

Not at all; it's been delightful :-)
