howto get mutt to display "circled numbers"

I've attached a gzipped mail that contains "circled numbers".  In mutt,
these show up as "??", but in nvi (Version 1.79, multilingualization
patch version Nov 17, 1999), and even cat, they are displayed correctly
as circled numbers.  Is there some way to get mutt (Mutt 1.5.11 + patch-
1.5.11.mutt-j.ja-beta.1, with libiconv-1.9.2) to display them?

Environment: LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.eucJP.
