I fully understand that the patch as it is might be gruesome from
a programers point of view; on the other hand one look into my
hcache folder with the eyes of a simple user is quite convincing.
I'm using the patch for quite some time now and haven't
encountered any issues so far.

As I am not a (C-)programer myself this is meant as an
encouragement in the sense that it's worth the effort to look for
a good compromise between purism and practical aspects concerning
this.
