Yes; gpg-agent 2.0.3 is installed and runs; I also have GPG_AGENT_INFO and
GPG_TTY set as described on the GPG website <URL:http://tinyurl.com/2kpeja>.

Because I did never bother to find the configure options that turn the
"classic" backend off. :-)

GPGME worked for me as well on my previous Linux box. It is only under 
Mac OS X that I never got it working correctly within mutt.
