howto get vtprint to work in a Screen session

If I p)rint from Mutt in the login shell, vtprint sends the output to a
printer attached to the local terminal (PuTTY).  When inside a Screen
session printing to the local terminal fails.  Does someone know how to
use print_cmd="vtprint" within GNU Screen, assuming that's possible?  TIA
