fetchmail/refresh mailbox problem

At the behest of those here who have said it's better to use the right
tool for the job, I quit using mutt's pop download facility and tried
fetchmail instead.

After a bit I got it working. Since I'm on dialup and don't need a
daemon running all the time, I'm checking the
mail manually with the command fetchmail -d0 -v, which works.

My fetchmailrc looks like this:

poll mail.ntelos.net with proto POP3
user 'orthodox@xxxxxxxxxx' there with password 'secret' is 'seth' here

poll pop.gmail.com with proto POP 3 and options no dns
user 'hazelmote@xxxxxxxxx' with password 'secret' is 'seth' here
options ssl

The problem, a relatively minor one, is that, once the mail is
downloaded, I have to hit $ to refresh the view in mutt in order to see
it. When I was using mutt's internal pop facility before, I just hit
G, it got the mail, and then displayed the new stuff for me.

Can somebody tell me a) is this a problem, or is it supposed to be like
this, and b) if it's not supposed to be this way, how do I fix it?
