setting status flags

Cyrus/IMAP/POP server on Solaris mailhost.
Mutt 1.4.1i

So, here is a fun question.

We had an issue with our mailserver and in order to deal with
some of the secondary effects some of the index information was
deleted.

I now have a mailbox with 5200 messages, all marked New, which next
time I enter mutt will all be marked Old.

Any way to clear these flags, en mass ?

If anyone has an alternative, netscape/mail mozilla, whatever that
would probably work just as well.
