Is it possibly to really MOVE a message while using MailDir?

I am currently using mutt to read local mail in MailDir format. The
mail is copied locally to my machine using offlineimap from my
company's Exchange server. My problem arises when I try to delete or
file messages. Offlineimap keeps my local MailDir in synch with the
IMAP server, propagating deletes as well as new messages back and
forth. When I delete a message in mutt have it set up to not delete
the message, but move it to the "Deleted Items" folder so that
Exchange (and my Blackberry) can see that they were deleted. I have
found out the using the following setting:

 folder-hook . 'macro index d "<move-message>~/TTV/jbrown/DeletedItems/\n"'

does not MOVE the message, but it copies it and marks the copy in the
INBOX as deleted. The message that is INBOX is the one that is linked
back to the original message on the IMAP server and therefore the only
thing the IMAP server sees is the delete.

Am I doing this right? Does anybody know of a way to really MOVE a message?

 thanks!!!
