searching for sender's alias in index menu

Sometimes I do a search on the sender's name ("~f").
This is normally not a problem because the sender's
name is displayed in the index menu. But when that
person's address matches a Mutt alias, the "personal"
name defined by the alias is displayed in the index
menu instead of the sender's name. Then when I do
a search on the sender's name, it fails because I do
a search on the personal name displayed in the index
menu instead of the actual sender's name which is not
displayed in the index menu.

For example, I have the following alias:

        alias juser abd30425@xxxxxxxxxxxxx (Joe User)

and I get mail with this header:

        From: J. User <abd30425@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>

In the index menu, "Joe User" is displayed instead of
"J. User". If I do a search for "Joe", the search fails.
But it's not obvious that the alias is being displayed
instead of the real sender.

What I would like is to do searches based on the sender's
name AND on the personal name defined by an alias. But I
want to do this without having to view the raw headers to
determine the sender information. Suggestions are welcome.
