It seems like you're using a filesystem that's optimized for this
case.  One of the reasons header cache was added into mutt was because
opening large maildir folders on traditional Unix filesystems
(including ext2) was catastrophically slower than mbox.  These numbers
don't seem to reflect that, which makes me think you're using one of
the *BSDs or Reiserfs or another optimized filesystem.  Yes?
