It doesn't mean anything special. You can take any combination of
characters, but these are rarely used.

I just noted that I use @~, not ~@. :)

macro pager f "@~fwd"
macro pager r "@~reply"
macro pager g "@~greply"
...

If you have such macros you cannot use the first character in the
normal way.
