Umlauts in the index view are not displayed

Hi,

I'm using mutt 1.5.11 from darwinports on OS X. Umlauts in the  
subject are not displayed in the index view but appear at the same  
time normally in the pager.

I uploaded a screenshot of this: <http://alex.wasmuth.ws/temp/mutt.png>.

This seems to affect all messages with umlauts in the subject header  
regardless of the MUA that was used to send the mail.

~$ mutt -v

I tried also iTerm instead of Terminal.app but still no umlauts.

Any ideas?
