I use fetchmail, but the principle will be the same.

macro index G "<shell-escape>fetchmail<enter>"
macro pager G "<shell-escape>fetchmail<enter>"
You'll see that I use the 'G' keystroke, which is the default
keystroke for 'fetch-mail'.
