It sure does work Michelle.

Thanks a lot. I had no idea it would be so simple. Not doubt it willbe useful to mask out other files also, so you have taught me how to fish.

That little mask clears out 1/3 of all the files in my Thunderbirddirectory - a very large savings of clutter.
