You should be able to get it to work as you want by putting this
line ahead of your current lynx line in your mailcap:
text/html; lynx -force_html %s
Then, to view an HTML message or attachment with lynx, including the
ability to follow links, etc., go to the attachment menu (bound to
'v' in the index and pager) and read the message or attachment
there.
