maybe.  Another problem (in the way of making this general) seems to be
that the preferred way to implement this would be via an action - but
double-clicking doesn't seem to correspond to one of the events that
could trigger an action.  (Alternatively there could be a resource as
in the cited patch, but without a way to turn it on/off, it would be
an annoyance - like konsole and gnome-terminal's interaction with the
browser - surely not everyone uses mouse selection only for copying
URLs...).

It's doable of course.
