Very strange. When I try to reply to my own message I can't read the
Japanese when inside the editor (nvi). Seeing "\xbe\xad\xb7\xb3".

This turned out to be a total disaster. None of them are right. I'm
going back to reading the manual before continuing with this thread.

What's very confusing is that "http://ash.jp/code/unitbl21.htm" lists these
circled numbers as available in EUC-JP but not in UTF-8. How did you find
that character "U+2460"?
