aliases doesn't work

I save an alias by hitting "a" and entering the info.

but when I try to send mail using To: aliasname it doesn't work and
tries to send mail to aliasname@localhost.

Now I also have my .aliases file .mutt/.aliases which mutt recognizes
and saves my alias enter in this file.
