Yes. The solution is to upgrade to Mutt 1.5.x.

            Mutt was reading the push buffer when asking for passwords.
        Brendan Cully corrected this last year. Check upgrading to Mutt 1.5.6
        or backporting patch-cvs20030715.unbufferedinput.diff to 1.4.2.1
