have to do something special when handling MH mailboxes?

am a newbie that
just got mutt installed to my Panther(OSX)@iBook-Tangerine via FINK

and am having trouble
viewing the message list of files fetchmailed in a MH format

what i did was

fetchmail -av -m "/usr/bin/procmail -d %T

manually
with the following in my .procmailrc

MAILDIR=/Volumes/sarigama/MuttMail
LOGFILE=/Users/micro/.procmaillog
LOGABSTRACT=no
VERBOSE=on
FORMAIL=/usr/bin/formail
NL="
"
:0 whc: .msgid.lock
| $FORMAIL -D 16384 .msgid.cache

:0 a
$MAILDIR/duplicates

:0
* .*
$MAILDIR/mh/.

my .muttrc has

set folder="/Volumes/sarigama/MuttMail"
set mbox="/Volumes/sarigama/MuttMail/mh/"
set mbox_type=MH
mailboxes =mh

and when i do

mutt -y

i can find my "mh" listed in the folder
but
when i go into that "mh"
what i find is another list of folders
that i once again have to go into
to have the message list
which only have 1 message over there

yes
this virtual(?) folder is MH oriented
so it's a file with only 1 message in it

well

what am i doing wrong over here?
