Yes, well, there's a story there. Since Mutt won't ask me who the mail
should come *from* when I send it, I always forget to set the From: address.
Consequently, I was not a member of the list the first time I tried to
send, since the confirmation reply came from a different address. Thus
the first version was delayed for moderation, the second version got sent
before I saw the first in the digest. Sigh.

Some replies to comments from others:

The reason I am using Mutt 1.4 is that this is the rpm that ships from
Redhat. I have a preference for going with standard rpm's, because
otherwise I would have to spend all of my time upgrading software and
none working. There is a site for Mutt rpm's, but I didn't see a RH9.0
version there (maybe I missed it).

A MUTTRC environment variable would be useful for two reasons. First,
one can imagine wanting several .muttrc files that one can switch between
in a shell script. Second, the reason I want this variable is that
I do wish to lower the clutter in my home directory, and a ~/.mutt...
directory, rather than a file, is still clutter. I put every single
.yadayada file which I write into a directory, and the only .yada file
I add to my home directory is .cshrc.

At any rate, thanks everybody for feedback. Now I just need time to
digest it all...

Brian
