Mutt Configure error

After download MUTT-1.4.1 and running 'configure' I get the following messages:

# configure

checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... (cached) yes

I guess the unix box I'm trying to put this on does not have automake installed
to complete the installation.

Is this host system type supported? If it is could you please help me find
the required components.

Thanks
