First off, do you know what version of autoconf you are using?  It may
be that mutt's configure.in works better with autoconf 2.13 than with
later autoconf's such as 2.57.

Also, can you tell which autoconf/automake files are affected by the
patch?  It might be worth combing through configure.in to see what
changes there are in the macros used.  (other places to look would be
Makefile.am, m4/*.m4, ...)
