Have you thought about doing that before the mail is delivered into your
mailbox? As an example, I do the same thing you are talking about with a
shell script that is called from my ~/.mailfilter maildrop configuration
file. Are you using a mail processing tool that could be configured to do
this slicing and dicing for you?
