This is normaly... use a xfont which support the IBM charset.

-bitstream-terminal-medium-*-*-*-18-*-*-*-*-*-*-dectech

AFAIK the "Bitstream" fonts are all UNICODE, so I think, it wil work for
you.

Try to call 'mutt' with


xterm -fn -bitstream-terminal-medium-*-*-*-18-*-*-*-*-*-*-dectech -e mutt

But AFAIK the "-fn" has changed to "-fd" or "-fw"
