obviously, i think that the discussion still *is* relevant to mutt's
security, otherwise i'd take it off-list.

for the record, my choices were:
- ignore dave. this would be silly - based on the same reasoning as used
  in the mail in question.
- fight him on the basis of every possible technical aspect. pointless,
  obviously.
- simply show him how his line of argumentation is fundamentally flawed
  (he seems to like that fu-word :). if you think that the used reasoning
  or comparisons are getting too personal, then it's too bad ... for
  you. :-P  SCNR
  his choices are now:
  - ignore me
  - flame me, in which case i will ignore him
  - show me how my argumentation is flawed
  - accept that i'm right and based on that rethink his own position
    towards a more differentiated one, based on pragmatic and not on
    ideological arguments. this doesn't even mean changing the actual
    position, as in the $PATH case we seem to agree mostly. ;)

ok, enough theoretizing. :)
