Timings are seconds to run the first time (empty cache) and seconds to run again (populated cache). 21 Dec 2005 -- cache works, 10+4 22 Dec 2005 -- won't run the second time, 10+X 23 Dec 2005 -- won't run the second time, 10+X 24 Dec 2005 -- cache works, 10+10 The performance before 21 Dec is consistent since the release of mutt-1.5.11. The performance since 24 Dec is consistent demonstrating that header caching is not working. Since determining earlier that database choice doesn't make a difference, all my testing is done with gdbm since support exists in the older versions. Aron
