You can't know what localtime is when you move around the world.
If you use UTC there's no problem at all.
If you save the "localtime" all sort of problems begin:
- You have to remember where the computer that was running the MUA was
when it received the email (There's no timezone attached there)
- As there are no timezone there are an hour when the DST changes that
you don't know when the email was received.
I think it's the correct idea TM to store the From time in UTC.
If you want you can convert that time to the localtime to visualize it
in mutt.
I solve many timezone related problems each day and storing UTC times is
always the best idea, then it's easy to show the time in whatever
timezone/timeformat the user wants.
