Thank you for the report, Bernhard. You are mistaken:
$edit_headers setting has no effect on send-hooks.
$edit_headers=yes is usefull. And there is no bug, but a
documented behaviour. For your needs, you could unset
$autoedit or use send2-hooks. Closing.
