Please look at the From: header in this message. It is not correct
due to the unquoted dot in the name part but such malformed headers
are nevertheless often seen.
The new RFC 2822 which supersedes RFC 822 recognize phrases with
dots and places them in the syntax category which MUST NOT be
generated but which MUST be accepted and parsed by a conformant
receiver. It is explained in this note from RFC 2822:
Note: The "period" (or "full stop") character (".") in obs-phrase is
not a form that was allowed in earlier versions of this or any other
standard. Period (nor any other character from specials) was not
allowed in phrase because it introduced a parsing difficulty
distinguishing between phrases and portions of an addr-spec (see
section 4.4). It appears here because the period character is
currently used in many messages in the display-name portion of
addresses, especially for initials in names, and therefore must be
interpreted properly. In the future, period may appear in the
regular syntax of phrase.
Mutt is currently not able parse such phrases in mailbox addresses.
I suggest to update the RFC 822 parser to a RFC 2822 conformant
parser which can recognize obs-phrases.
