Subject: A follow up comment about PC streaming

I’ve been mulling the difference in video quality. Even if the PC signal has less bits than the “TV” signal it seems that the far more powerful scaling capabilities of the video board on my PC more than compensate and can do smoother scaling.

This is very bad news for the CableCos because it’s exactly the same edge-phenomenon that burst the fiber bubble by driving up capacity. Video images are very different from text on a screen and smooth scaling works very well and seems to be better than naïve digital scaling.

In the old days the Telcos gave up on ITV because 1mbps was not enough. Now they are spending billions on fiber to get enough speed. If I’m really watching a 600kbps signal then the joke is on them. Their old DSL can now do ITV! Oops …

I haven’t done deep research. I’m just watching TV on two screens near each other.

It does make me wonder why anyone could take the Regulatorium seriously.
