A similar "epidemic" going on all over Britain has been in that country's headlines for the past month. They've named it "MRSA". See, for instance, http://www.portal.telegraph.co.uk/opinion/main.jhtml; sessionid=LVZXP11HB5BYDQFIQMFSM5WAVCBQ0JVC?xml=/opinion/2004/07/25/ do2502.xml&secureRefresh=true&_requestid=42037

I don't believe that this is a coincidence. When an industry is run by the government and provided "free", and the people working in it are immune to lawsuits and nearly impossible to fire because of civil service rules, you
can't expect that industry to provide a good quality product.

This epidemic ought to be called the lack-of-accountability syndrome. And it ought to give pause to those who want the government to take over health
care in the United States.
