Dave, Charles,
But, hang on, isn't all of microsoft.com actually behind Akamai's Linux
caching servers?
Wouldn't those actually be Linux machines that were catching and
dropping the MyDoom traffic meant for MS?
Here's a link to a quote from an Information Week story during last
August's Blaster attack on MS where that appeared to be the case:
http://sourcefrog.net/weblog/software/linux/microsoft-akamai.html
And here's a Sydney Morning Herald dispatch quoting Netcraft when MS
changed its DNS to point to Akamai's machines, also last August:
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/08/19/1061261127586.html
And, if you do a nslookup on www.microsoft.com, you get:
Chris-Gulkers-Computer:~ gulker$ nslookup www.microsoft.com
Server: 209.220.11.76
Address: 209.220.11.76#53
Non-authoritative answer:
www.microsoft.com canonical name = www.microsoft.akadns.net.
www.microsoft.akadns.net canonical name =
www2.microsoft.akadns.net.

whois reveals that akadns.net is registered to Akamai Technologies in
Cambridge (MA)....
