Re: [alac] Comments

I almost agree with Sebastian that we should not deal with individual
complaints on case by case basis. We can, perhaps, make aggregated
observations and remit that to those relevant bodies while passing
or redirecting individual complaints to appropriate channels.

And to do so, we better make our own "decision" and accnounce that decision
to ICANN community I think.

In the last weeks we - some of the ALAC members - have received a number of
complains or suggestions coming from individual Internet users. Complains
regarding registrar behavior in matters such as domain transfers, burocracy
or even about spam and intellectual property have been sent to us.

This situation put us in a dilemma. Whether to pursue the resolution of
these individual problems in a case by case basis - which would lead us to
invest big amounts of time and ICANN resources in solving these issues - ,
or to keep on our agenda to meet the challenging goals we are committed to
fulfill.

It is a fact that we have been called for Individual user interests'
advocacy. While performing this task, we have chosen to give our input to
other committees and serving organizations working in ICANN and foster the
creation of At Large organizations around the world - that ultimately would
be centralizing general complains - instead of focus in individual
problems. We feel that this is the best way to give the Internet community
long term solutions.
