Re: Mutt tty problems on Mac OS X 10.5.4 and mutt 1.5.18 --
The mutt I had was the fink mutt, it looks like, but neither I nor the
sysadmin remember installing it. I can only guess that since its
install date was the date I got the laptop, I had mentioned needing
mutt and either he installed it and forgot or I did. Maybe it was
an install command which was sufficiently disguised that "fink"
doesn't ring a bell.
At any rate, I installed macports and mutt, removed the ascii_chars
option, set TERM to nsterm-16color, and everything seems ok. The only
change from what I am used to is now the terminal comes up with white
text on black background, which is something up with which I shall not
put. But while setting "color normal black white" solves the index
problem, messages still display wrongly. Setting "color body black
white" demands the regex in spite of the documentation implying a
regex is not necessary, and setting the regex to ".*" has no affect.
But that is just details. It does now display properly other than the
black/white reversal.
