Apparently the above entry does not verify signature.
What verifies signature is:

# automatically verify the sign of a message when opened
set crypt_verify_sig=yes

If set to "yes" it works OK.
However, if I set it to "ask" it does not ask me if I want to verify signature.
How does it work?
