Parent directory and "../"

Hi dears,
this is the first time I'm posting on this list.

I'm using Mutt 1.5.12 in a Gnu-Linux Debian system.

I'm trying to define a macro to jump to the parent directory. The idea
is to set something as:

macro browser ^ "c^a^k.." "Jump to the parent directory"

(^a^k are used to delete the presetted value in the command line).

The problem is that the path ".." seems to be interpreted as the home
dir, since I get there. The same thing happens with "../", while "./"
seems to be interpreted in the usual manner (actual directory).

If I select the line in the browser the "../" line then it jumps to the
parent dir as expected.

I also noted that when mutt appearently misbehaves the status line
reports "Directory [..]" in the status line rather then the absolute
basename, then when browsing the names of the dirs are interpeted
relative to that (e.g. ../Mail).

I googled without to find anything relevant.

Am I missing something, or is this a mutt problem?

Thanks,
Stefano.
