HTML emails are a pain, but like taxes, they are a fact of life.

My solution is to have the following line in my .mailcap:

text/html;                      w3m -dump %s; nametemplate=%s.html;
copiousoutput

And the following line in my .muttrc

auto_view text/html

If you don't have access to w3m, you may like to try something
like this in your .mailcap:

text/html;       w3m -T  text/html %s; needsterminal;

Hope this helps;
