browsing multiple spool boxes

I would like to browse multiple spool boxes similar to
Thunderbird or Outlook (split-screen).  I use procmail to sort my
mail into numerous mailboxes.  I'd like to be able to see the
number of new mails from the various boxes, while browsing a
particular mailbox.  The point is that this information is on the
same screen.  Is this possible? ... I asked this question
sometime in 2001 and it didn't seem to be directly supported[1].

Here is a theoretical view of what I'm talking about:
