How to navigate subfolders?
I have sucessfully moved over a gig of mail from Windows PMMail to Mutt 1.4.1i.
The msgs are in maildir format and I can read them fine.
It seems that I can use the
c ?
commands to see a list of maildirs
and I can decend 3 but no more.
I've googled a lot, read the mutt archives and read the mutt manual several
times
and there seems to be conflicting opinions on what to do.
So far the choices are:
1. create links to the subfolders to they all appear on the first "c" page.
Problem - there are over a thousand!
2. type in the subfolder names - ugh
3. list out the subfolders in another terminal window to less, find the line I
want
and paste it into the "c" entry box. I have written a nice script to list
out all
the folder paths and sucessfully pasted a line into the entry box and
read the mail.
Isn't there an easier way? I'm kind of astounded that I can't use the arrow
keys or some other keys
to navigate up and down the directory tree.
I have read that maildirs should have _only_ cur, new and tmp subdirectories
but they work just fine with other subdirectories and suspect that was just a
purist talking.
Is there some way to assign keys to navigate the tree?
Is there any way to force "c" to start at the current directory instead of
always
listing the folders in the ~/Mail directory?
What do people do with mbox subfolders? Aren't they typically setup with
sub and sub-sub folders which you navigate into to read the single file?
Please help me to get some insight on this.
